This is a "Helping Hands" tour bringing relief to people who have lost their homes in the 'clean up' in Zimbabwe. $200 of your tour cost will go towards alleviating the plight of people in the Victoria Falls area who have lost their homes in the 'cleanup'. You will have the opportunity to visit them and contribute further if you wish. We expect most of it will be spent on educational and social needs.

PLEASE NOTE: INDEPENDENT TRAVEL
This tour is based on Springbok Atlas weekly Panorama Tour in South Africa. This means that you can depart any week for the same price and a minimum of 2 people. It also means that we can guarantee our December departure for a minimum of 2. For up to 10 we will travel on the regular tour. Above 10 we will have our exclusive coach and a few extra features!.

Day 1. Sunday AUCKLAND - JOHANNESBURG
Depart Auckland early this morning for Sydney and transfer to our flight to Johnnesburg arriving mid afternoon. Transfer to our hotel

Day 2. Monday. JOHANNESBURG - MPUMALANGA. (B)
Depart Johannesburg after breakfast and travel to Mpumalanga Province, known as Paradise country. Drive along the spectacular Panorama Route offering amazing views including the 26 km lonmg Blyde River Canyon and historic God's Window with a breathtaking view of the edge of the escarpment taking in Kruger National Park. Continue to an area near Hazyview for your overnight stay.

Day 3. Tuesday. MPUMALANGA. (B).
Early morning coffee before proceeding open vehcile game drive through Kruger National Park with pre packed breakfast. The park offers some of the best game viewing and wildlife opportunities in the world. The afternoon is free to relax at your resort with optional (extra expense) further game drives.

Day 4. Wednesday. KRUGER NATIONAL PARK. (B)
Enjoy an early morning game drive with packed breakfast. Kruger is one of the worlds greatest national parks and is home to a stunning array of wildlife. Search for the 'big five' (rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, and elephant) as well as prolific bird life and numerous other game. The afternoon is at leisure with a community visit to the Amazing Grace Childrens centre for a tour and brief look into the lives of the children who live there. Optional (extra expense) evening game drive.

Day 5. Thursday. MPUMALANGA - SWAZILAND. (B)
This morning drive to Swaziland, an indigenous kingdom within the borders of South Africa, known for its lovely scenery, crafts, and colourful culture. Visit the Ngwenya glass factory to see amazing glass creations of many African animals and birds being made from 100% recycled glass that is collected by the children of Swaziland. In the afternoon the opportunity exists for an optional visit to a candle factory - included in group departure. Overnight in Swaziland.

Day 6. Friday. SWAZILAND - ZULULAND. (B).
Continue south through Swaziland and re enter South Africa. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi game reserve which is particularly famous for its conservation of the black and white Rhino. Overnight nearby.

Day 7. Saturday. ZULULAND - DURBAN. (B).
This morning visit a traditional Zulu village to experience the local culture, dancing, and a delicious ethnic lunch. Continue to Durban passing through traditional Zulu Kraals, Eucalyptus plantations, and sugar cane fields. Overnight in Durban.

Day 8. Sunday. DURBAN. (B).
This morning tour Durban including the beachfront, city hall, Indian market, Emmanuel Cathedral, Cato Manor settlement, and the botanical gardens. Free afternoon to relax and explore at your leisure.

Day 9. Monday. DURBAN - PORT ELIZABETH. (BD).
Fly to Port Elizabeth this morning and transfer to your hotel. Optional afternoon tour of Port Elizabeth.

Day 10. Tuesday. PORT ELIZABETH - KNYSNA. (B).
This morning start your drive along the Garden Route which follows the Indian Ocean coastline flanked to the north by mountain ranges and forests. Arrive in Kynsna, known as the oyster box of South Africa nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon. The afternoon is free for optional tours or explore at your leisure.

Day 11. Wednesday. KNYSNA. (BL).
Enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve for a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head to enjoy panoramic views of the town and lagoon. Enjoy a picnic lunch under the milkwood trees and the rest of the day is free. (Group departures include a visit to Monkeyland including a safari with a local ranger. Expect to see Gibbons, Howlers, and Lemurs.)

Day 12. Thursday. KNYSNA - OUDTSHOORN. (BD)
Drive through the Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn, centre of the world's Ostrich farming industry. Visit an Ostrich farm for a guided tour before touring the spectacular Cango limestone caverns, one of the world's great natural wonders. Overnight in Oudtshoorn.

Day 13. Friday. OUDTSHOORN - CAPETOWN. (B).
Drive through the 'Little Karoo'to Barrydale with the opportunity to visit a local farm school to intercat with the children and teachers. Continue through the picturesque and historic spa town of Montagu and arrive Capetown late afternoon.

Day 14. Saturday. CAPETOWN. (B).
This morning we tour the city including Table Mountain (with cable car ride), Cape Point, the Castle of Good Hope built in 1666 by the Dutch East India Company, City Hall, St George's Cathedral (of Bishop Desmond Tutu fame) South Africa Musuem,. and the Malay Quarter where thousnads of slaves were brought in the 18th century. The rest of the day is free to explore at your leisure.

Day 15. Sunday. CAPETOWN. (B).
Today we tour the Cape Peninsula. Drive through the seaside village of Hout Bay and on to the Cape of Good Hope where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Drive through part of the 17,300 acre nature reserve and you will probably see Baboons, Rhebok, and Cape Mountain Zebra.

Day 16. Monday CAPETOWN - JOHANNESBURG (B)
Those finishing their tour today fly to Johannesburg connecting on to Sydney and Auckland arriving tuesday night.

Those continuing on the Grand Tour fly to Victoria Falls this morning for 3 nights at Victoria Falls Hotel with a tour of Victoria Falls town en route. This evening enjoy spectacular African dancing and dinner at the Boma

ROVOS RAIL
Those who would like to experience one of the great rail journeys of the world are welcome to join Rovos Rail departing Capetown 11am most mondays year round. Enjoy a tour of the historic village of Matjiesfontein between 6 and 7pm. On tuesday enjoy a tour of Kimberley between 2.30pm and 4pm including the 'Big Hole' Diamond Mine. back on board the train and arrive Pretoria at midday wednesday. Tour Pretoria and transfer the 60km to Johannesburg. Those returning to Auckland depart tonight for Sydney connecting to Auckland arriving late thursday. Those rejoing our Grand Tour remain in Johannesburg and fly to Victoria Falls thursday morning. Enjoy a tour of the Falls before we depart for Chobe National Park.

Day 17. Tuesday. VICTORIA FALLS (BD)
Morning tour of the magnificent Victoria Falls and during the afternoon tour the craft village. You will also have time for an optional helicopter ride. This evening we enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambesi River.

We will also have a "Helping hands" project for you to see and support in the area.

Day 18. Wednesday. VICTORIA FALLS. (BD).
Free day to relax and explore at your leisure, or alternatively contribute further to social needs in the area. Day 19. Thursday. VICTORIA FALLS - CHOBE (BLD)
We drive across the border into Botswana to visit a crocodile farm then on to Chobe National Park for accommodation at the beautiful Cresta Mowana Lodge on the banks of the Chobe river. Chobe has over 450 species of birds and Africa's largest concentration of elephants. Evening game viewing.

Day 20. Friday. CHOBE (BLD)

More game viewing and a highlight will be a cruise on the Chobe river. Other optional excursions are available.

Day 21. Saturday. CHOBE - JOHANNESBURG DEPART (B)
Drive back to Victoria Falls to join our flight back to Johannesburg connecting on to our flight to Sydney

Day 22. Sunday. SYDNEY - AUCKLAND
Arrive Sydney and connect to our flight to Auckland arriving late evening.
